With the Lebron saga now over, and yes, ExtraBaseHit was wrong with him going to the Knicks. The Cliff Lee rumours may be coming to end, with the Yankees being the big winners, just like the Heat, in the sweepstakes.
Reports indicate, the Yankees will acquire the free-agent to-be, left-handed ace, Clifff Lee, in exchange for talented catcher Jesus Montero. The Mariners have asked for a catcher all along in the talks and have apparently decided to go with Montero and others from the Yankees.
The Yankees would then deal Javier Vazquez to the Phillies or Reds to make the rotation work.
Almost not fair! We will see what the day brings as New York needs to do something with the lost feeling of not landing LeBron James.
The Phillies are looking hard for a second basemen and Dan Uggla's name keeps popping up. Also, Jason Werth, a free agent next season, is available according to scouts.
The Red Sox are in Toronto this weekend, and with news of a Lee to the Yankees deal, look for them to get something done to sure up their offense and bullpen.
Yankees will get Lee and maybe Jason Werth as well.
Cubs will deal Lilly to the Phillies if Vazquez deal can't be worked out.
Cliff Lee traded to the Rangers
The saga is over and the Yankees actually were beat out today, as the Rangers, in a bit of a shock, acquired the Mariners ace, Cliff Lee, in a 6-player deal.
The Mariners Get:
1B Justin Smoak
P Blake Beavan
P Josh Lueke
2B Matthew Lawson
P Cliff Lee
P Mark Lowe (out for season after back surgery)
After playing hardball for years, the Rangers, five and half games ahead of the Angels in the division, decided to give up Justin Smoak to make the deal happen.
The Yankees were upset, thinking they had a deal for Lee for Montero and others, were told that their were concerns over the health of the other minor league players, and so, the Mariners went with the Rangers deal. The Yankees were shocked the deal wasn't completed, according to reports in New York.
Lee goes to a team that has always talked about getting a starter of his caliber, now they have one, and instantly becomes the staff ace.
Smoak will become the first baseman of the future in Seattle, although home runs are harder to hit in Seattle then Texas.
Congrats to the Rangers for beating out the Yankees on this one, and winning the sweepstakes on Lee.
