Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Dirk Hayhurst is on the 60-day disabled list after showing up in spring training with a shoulder issue, not a good thing for the team, but his book, "The Bullpen Gospels" has been a success on the bookshelves so far.
The book is not just about the baseball world, it is a true story about his life, family life, and thoughts we all might have, he just talks about them to anyone who will listen.
In the book, he discusses what it is really like to go through pitching at the pro-level, and takes you behind the scenes as he takes part in minor-league spring training and different levels of pro-ball.
In the early going in the book, he gets personal, and has funny moments where he talks about a day where the Padres minor-league kids had a talk with the great Trevor Hoffman. Hayhurst had a question and he asked it, you have to read the book to see what he asked, but it was different, good, but different, and Hoffman let him know.
The National Post did a good review &
The Score.com caught-up with Dirk Hayhurst and asked him questions about the book, after seeing the video you might not understand what he is talking about, but after reading the book, you can figure it out.
