The Twins C Joe Mauer has won the American League MVP. Mauer hit .365 with a career high 28 HR & 96 RBI. Mauer earned 27 first-place votes and 1-second place vote. The Yankees 1B Mark Teixeira finished second in voting with Yankees SS Derek Jeter 3rd.
News: The White Sox have signed INF Omar Vizquel to a 1-year contract. Vizquel becomes the first free agent to sign and will serve as a backup in all infield positions for 3B Mark Teahen, SS Alexei Ramirez & 2B Gordon Beckham.
